Are you ready to “Wine Down” in the spring of 2009? Wine Expert Christila “Chris” Milner, founder of Wine Down with Chris, schools J’Adore readers on the perfect, inexpensive thirst-quenching wines that are perfect for the warm weather wherever you are in the world. Enjoy!
Martin Codax 2006 “Ergo” Rioja Tempranillo
Youthful tanginess, simple, abundance of fresh fruit cherries good acid balanced well with a nice lingering finish, very dark purple and flexible in terms of food parings. If allowed to breathe, it will relax and be more pleasurable.
Enjoy with red meats, steak with gravy and onions.
$12.99
Airlie7 2007, Willamette Valley, Oregon
This blend is amazing to say the least, partly because it is not exactly the norm, which makes it interesting. Airlie7 is very well-balanced with vibrant fruit, yet not overly sweet and very food-friendly. This wine is a joy to share with good friends.
The seven varitals are Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Auxerrois.
$13.99
Icardi Moscato D’Asti 2007, Piedmont, Italy
It is sheer sparkling seduction with a stunning floral bouquet. Icardi leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting more and it’s a fun, light wine to drink. This can serve as aperitif — pair with your favorite chocolate and strawberries, or have it after your meal in lieu of dessert. This wine has just the perfect amount of carbonation; actually, it is more of a fizz. The finish is clean and lingers. This is not for cellaring, though. Be sure to drink this special wine within a year.
$17.99
Nitida Sauvignon Blanc 2007, South Africa
Nitida has a personality of its own. It’s very fruit-forward with tropical notes, pear, melons and peaches. There is no wood present, and a somewhat higher alcohol content which enhances the mouthfeel. Overall, this wine is simply refreshing and fun. When pairing, be creative! This wine is like a chameleon when it comes to food, so you can enjoy Nitida with seafood, poultry, spicy dishes and more.
$15.99
Da Vinci Chianti 2006, Italy
Flavorful, the crimson red color, cherries, ripe fruit aromas and lovely acidity which make Chianti an optimal food wine. These wines pair extremely well with tomato-based sauce, chicken, fish and pork, roasted garlic, zucchini and asparagus. Basically, it is a winner for dinner!
$13.99
Sant’ Evasio Brachetto d’Acqui 2007, Piedmont, Italy
A sparkler with ruby-red color, San’t’s vino offers bright cherry and strawberry flavors, is sweet and soft, with a rose floral aroma. Serve as an aperitif; if poured after dinner, keep in mind that the dessert should be just as sweet as the wine or sweeter.
$20
Cheers!

Chris does it again! A chemistry for people, a class for wine and a style to smile about! No longer a best kept secret of East Atlanta…the word is out! Well Done Chris. this article was very useful to me. I look forward to more features like this. Thanks for providing the price information too.
Chris you did a fabulous job in your descriptions of the various wines. I have never been a wine drinker, However, I really like all your factual and expertise information. When I do decide to try something, I will have a break down about several wine choices. The way you describe the wines and their taste, and the best foods to eat with each drink has really peaked my curiosity.
Nice article Aunt Chris!
I’m sure the wine lovers will enjoy this!!
No question I need to have your Chianti suggestion with my next plate of salmon. Gonna hafta try the Icardi Moscato D’Asti as a stand alone to see what all of the excitement is about! But, Chris, what I wanna know, relating to your first selection; the Airlie7 ? Uhm… I don’t quite know any other way to put this, but ifthisis a good wine to share with good friends, do you have an alternate suggestion that I can share with enemies? I mean, something that will be as intoxicating and delicious, but which can also LAY THEM OUT? *Sorry, I digress. CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERS!
