Tea Anyone?

Let the Teabagging begin! The Tea-Party movement is gaining ground and its time to take notice and tackle what it is they are all about. The key message and their repetitive slogan is ‘Lower taxes and Small Government”. They are also not too keen on having leadership. Its all about the people and what they want and stand for. Like their heroine clearly stated” It isn’t about the any king or queen of a tea party and its a lot more than any one charismatic guy with a teleprompter”. Well, we all know who Sarah Palin was referring to in the latter part of her statement but the irony of that statement lies in the fact that a couple days later the news broke that Palin had actually scribbled key notes on the inside of her hand to help her eloquently deliver the very speech that included her not so subtle dig at President Obama. Words like “energy”, “tax” and the phrase “lift American spirits” were displayed when she at some point unknowlingly raised her hand high enough for the writings to be visible. The Tea Party not surprisingly comprises of mostly ultra conservative Republicans. So basically angry dissatisfied conservatives who are trying to put a fire under it and make the GOP wake up, recognize and remove the dys in function. So the rallying continues with Sarah Palin finally hinting at the possibility of a 2012 presidential run. She certainly has a lot of backing so far with her $100,000 speaking fee for her last weekend Tea Party convention appearance. The cost of attending that particular event was a steep $549 per person and a Tennesseee tea-party activist who actually with the help of other unhappy supporters held a press conference to openly air out their concern and frustration at how the high ticket prices were basically keeping a lot of supporters who can’t afford to pay out in the cold. But when they were faced with the fact that Sarah Palin commanded so much money for her appearance, they expresssed admiration for the former Vice-Presidential candidate and there seemed to be no bitterness despite the fact that those not so cheap tickets ultimately helped to pay Palin’s fee for her much lauded face time. It will be interesting to see how much of an influence the Tea Party movement will have in the coming months. But if having Sarah Palin in the background cheering on remains a constant, the future will of this newly minted party stands on shaky ground.
